There's a neat little collection of full-length Mega Drive reviews on the site now.

I just reread this last one (and edited out two instances of "gameplay", lol), and it holds up damn well, even though it's one of my first reviews. If I ever end up revising it I'd cut out that paragraph about the story, and slightly rephrase some of the mechanical descriptions that are too expository without offering much in the way of criticism, but other than that the review's a-ok even by my current standards. I am proud of you, Alex from May 2006.

The best game on the system, by the way, is The Super Shinobi, and by a long shot. Herzog Zwei comes second -- or first, if you factor in its importance in the grand scheme of things (starting off the RTS genre, etc.)

I challenge contradiction on the above statement, by the way. I've played something like 80% of the system's catalog to some extent or other, and have seen videos, etc. of most of the rest of the games, so I am fairly confident in my judgement. No other games on the Mega Drive have given me anywhere near the amount of pleasure as these two. (Note that ports don't count -- but even if they did this wouldn't change anything; Daimakaimura, for all its glory, still doesn't touch these two games.)

I can entirely agree that, The Super Shinobi, and Herzog Zwei, are the best of their respective genres. However, I am having trouble understanding how you can crown a game the best of a system, when genre preference plays a large factor in such a decision?

Unlike anyone else who has ever written about games, I can rank genres too.

Edit: Also, you are banned for putting words in my mouth. These ones:

Edit 2: Also, consider yourself banned a second time for having no idea how to use commas.
