I added a couple dozen more games and the first two Langrissers. My laptop's battery is running out, so I'll add more tomorrow. As for including Western games... I am still thinking about this. I knew it would come up, but I still haven't made up my mind.

Yeah, I am of course aware of the Fire Emblem games, the Disgaea series, etc. I just haven't got round to adding them yet. I am looking more for people to contribute stand-alone games I might have missed, or missing entries in series which I have already listed, like the Shining Force GBA remake, for example. Thanks for the effort anyway.

Yeah I figured, just thought I'd save you the effort of copy pasting a bunch of information. Point taken though.

You are not saving me any effort because I double-check all information anyway (through the official sites and Japanese Wikipedia). Besides, your transliteration of Japanese titles was embarrasingly awful. "Disugaea" lol.

Series-wise, I have now fully covered the following:

Fire Emblem, Shining Force, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vandal Hearts, Summon Night, Luminous Arc

Or at least I think I have. If I am missing any installments let me know.

Up next, in the following order:

Makai Senki Disgaea, Black/Matrix, Front Mission, Sakura Taisen, Langrisser, Nippon Ichi games, Sting games, Idea Factory games, Super Robot Taisen

I will leave Super Robot Taisen for the end, because there's like a billion of them and god help me trying to list them all.

Finished with the Disgaea series and all the original Langrisser releases. Here's a gem I came across on lolpedia:

Most reviewers say that Disgaea 3 received a lower score than its predecessors Disgaea and Disgaea 2 because there was little improvement to the graphics over its predecessors, despite being on the Playstation 3 while its predecessors are on the Playstation 2 platform. It is worth noting, however, that reviewers have praised the new innovations to the battle system and have often stated that it is the best of the trilogy, despite the lower scores.

Finished the Black/Matrix series, and as far as I know all of Flight-Plan's games. List is starting to look respectable.

Finished all the versions of Sakura Taisen 1 and 2 (except the PC ports, which I will add later). I think these are the only SRPG installments in the series...

Finished Nippon Ichi, but I need to recheck everything from the official sites (I only copied over the Japanese Wikipedia's info).

2007 seems to have been the genre's best year so far, by the way, both in terms of quantity and probably even quality. I never realized that. And then 2008 and 2009 look like the absolute worst years ever, considering also that 2007 featured Flight-Plan's last 2D game, whereas their 2008 and 2009 releases are cheap-looking 3D games. It's funny how the best year can be immediately followed by the worst. I guess developers became too tired and phoned the next two years in.

About a third of the way through Idea Factory -- there's like a billion of these games. I think I might take a break here and make a proper archive page for this. Pretty much all of the important games have been covered anyway.

"srpgfan" lol. And yet you have no idea what an SRPG is!

Also, next person who posts shit like "Varukirī Purofairu" will be banned. Instbanned with no appeal. This shit is beyond retarded.

And don't fucking repost games that are already on the list. READ THE GODDAMN LIST FIRST before posting.

Jesus.

Would you please tell me which one(s) I listed aren't SRPGs?

Sorry about the translations, just got them from wikipedia.

They are not "translations", they are transliterations. Look it up in a dictionary and you'll learn something.

As for the other question, are you fucking joking me? Age of Empires? AGE OF FUCKING EMPIRES? A TURN-BASED SRPG?

Go away dude. Go back to gamefaqs or wherever. This place is not for you.

Those two games are turn based tactics/SRPG spinoffs of the main series.

lol, I didn't know that. I simply assumed they would be shitty ports, so I ignored them. From the Wikipedia description, however, they still don't seem to qualify as SRPGs since, from what I can see, you only have one hero. And can this hero level? If he can't they are definitely not SRPGs. Even if he can it's still borderline, since there is only a single hero. Moreover, again judging from the Wikipedia page, the games seem to include larger-scale strategic elements, like the regular AoE games (which I am familiar with), so again they don't count as SRPGs.

As for the rest of your suggestions, Intelligent Systems' Wars games are turn-based Tactics, NOT SRPGs, and so is R-Type Tactics. Tear Ring Saga and Berwick Saga, meanwhile, are ALREADY ON THE LIST. As for the rest of them:

Senjou no Valkyria: I need to play this game in order to decide on its genre. There's just too much action in it to simply straight away categorize it as an SRPG.

Panzer Tactics and Konchuu Wars: I know very little about these games, but from what I know they don't seem to me to be SRPGs -- they are probably just Tactics games. I'll look more into them later on at some point. Same goes for Wesnoth, which is a Western game, and you always have to be very careful with those, because the SRPG genre is Japanese, and Western games in that mold tend to have many features that exclude them from it.

Which leaves us Valkyrie Profile DS, Laevatein and Devil Survivor DS. I'll add these in the next update -- thanks.

My apologies for my errors. Your list looks great so far.

I don't believe the heroes in the Age of Empires DS games can level up, no.

R-Type Tactics does feature upgrading and building units in between missions. There aren't any unique units or individual people/heroes, I believe. So I'm not sure where that would fall in the SRPG or turn based tactics categories.

Panzer Tactics and Konchuu Wars both have level ups, individual characters and RPG-like elements in between missions.

I have reviewed R-Type Tactics, so I know what I am talking about:

http://insomnia.ac/reviews/playstationp ... petactics/

The pilots level, yes, but they don't gain any new abilities or anything. It's really a straight-up Tactics game.

Let me clear something up for you: SRPGs are a subgenre of Tactics games. So ALL SRPGs are Tactics games but not all Tactics games are SRPGs. The heroes make the difference. And any game which includes base-building, resource-gathering etc. is neither an SRPG nor a Tactics game -- regardless of what is says on the box. It is a STRATEGY game.

I am writing a very comprehensive article about these distinctions, so it should all become extremely clear pretty soon.

Panzer Tactics and Konchuu Wars both have level ups, individual characters

Fair enough, I'll look into it and consider them for inclusion. As for this:

and RPG-like elements in between missions.

I can guarantee that they include no such thing. Perhaps it would be a good idea if you read the following two essays at some point -- before posting about "RPG-like elements" on this forum again, at any rate:
