Genre: MMORPG
Publisher: NHN
Developer: Bluehole Studio
Origin: Korea
Release Date: TBA

Official website: http://tera.hangame.com/

Well known Korean gaming portal Hangame recently released information about the project codenamed S1. It uses the Unreal Engine 3 and it will enter its close beta phase this summer. It has been in development for almost three years and is one of the most anticipated MMOs in Korea. Its next generation graphics and huge marketing campaign will give nightmares to existing MMORPG publishers.

Bluehole Studio is a MMORPG developer headquartered in Seoul, Korea. Bluehole's development team includes the former development team members of Lineage II including the game's producer, lead game designer, lead programmer, and art director. NCSOFT's Lineage II is the most successful Asian MMO game worldwide. In Korea, Lineage II is so popular it even has its own TV shows.

Closed beta servers are online. If you had applied for a closed beta ticket, check it here: http://tera.hangame.com/popup/betatestercheck.nhn

You can download the huge client from the official site without the need of VPN (Virtual Private Network) server. Don't know if you need a VPN to log to it and play because I have not my gaming pc with me at the moment to test it.

If you weren't selected as a closed beta tester, don't worry the open beta is very near.

Try and play it because it features an action-based battle system like NHN's Continent of the Ninth (C9) and the guys behind it are Korean MMORPG masters. Also check the English site (http://www.tera-online.com/) for updates and announcements of the English version of the game. Just don't expect it to happen anytime soon.

Finally! The Korean open beta phase will start in 11th January 2011. I recommend downloading the game's client now, to avoid slow download speeds near its open beta release.

http://tera.enmasse.com/news/posts/news ... t-for-free

Starting in February, you’ll be able to play TERA for free—no subscription required. The TERA: Rising update adds a new dungeon, new PvP battleground, and more new content, while eliminating the subscription fee so everyone can take part in TERA’s award-winning true action combat.

Unlike other games that restrict or deny parts of the game to free users, TERA: Rising offers every epic dungeon, every pulse-pounding BAM fight, and every well-earned level to every user. No content requires payment; play as much as you like!

For those who want to customize their characters and stand apart from the crowd, the En Masse store will offer an even wider array of costume and customization choices. And for TERA players who want all the extras, there’s elite status, a purchase that offers 30 days of extra dungeon rewards, 10 bonus daily quests, a daily delivery of items and boosts, an elite mount, in-game store discounts, reduced brokerage fees, and more.

If you’re a current or former TERA player, congratulations—you’re a founder! That means eight character slots, four bank tabs, a “Founder” title, the exclusive Terminus mount, and more. (New players have two character slots and can get more with elite status or as an individual purchase at the En Masse store.)
