It's fascinating to me that we are approaching an era when it will be impossible to any longer collect games in any meaningful sense of the word. Or at any rate only in the sense that I "collect" a MAME romset, or a complete GBA or DS romset or something. But there still seem to be very few games in this "uncollectible" category -- off the top of my head I can only think of Hard Corps: Uprising. It feels really strange to me that I can't acquire this amazing cutting-edge game in any other form than basically as a rom. It will certainly make any ancillary products -- posters, soundtracks, etc., if they exist -- that much more valuable.
So I am wondering how many other games in this category currently exist. Note that I am not talking about "indie" crap and such -- yes, we know these have always been uncollectible, and for good reason -- though it is a reason most people seem to forget (and yes, the reason is that they are crap). So I am not talking about student efforts, or even stuff like Geometry Wars or whatever. I never felt weird when downloading this game back in the day -- download-only felt exactly how it should be, and all other games of this kind, like Bejweled, etc. This thread is for download-only games that feel really weird being download-only. They don't have to be amazing or anything -- just big or at least sizable productions that an old-school gamer would feel are being done a disservice by not getting a physical release.
