For the record, I dislike the term and view it as yet another superfluous and dumb-sounding neologism. The name of the genre is simply grand strategy, and it comes in two varieties: turn-based and real-time. And these are the terms we will be using on this site.
Apart from that, the 4xgamer site seems really cool. A couple of minutes of skimming already yielded these two really cool soundbites (which I will be explaining at length in the corresponding reviews in Videogame Art: Volume I):

His About page however does seem to imply that he's a Master of Orion fan, seeing as it has a MOO2 screenshot:

It even implies that it's his favorite game, which would indicate that he has terrible taste... So we'll see I guess. At any rate the site should be a good source for news in this genre, which should be helpful.
