The first trailer is an embarrassment. The CG thingy is whatever. The full eight-minute demo is the best thing to see, and it's pretty decent for what it is. But what it isn't is a new console's killer app launch title. Far from it.

This is by no means a next-gen Halo. It's not even a strong last-gen Halo. It's a decent last-gen Halo, more like Halo remake than Halo sequel. The scale is as small as in the 360 days, the action is typical Halo with maybe a dash of 2016 Doom or Bulletstorm, and the environment assets and effects look charmingly familiar, but by the same token utterly unimpressive. Maybe there are no conceptually new assets in the demo at all. The post above this one, that proclaims that "The Halo Infinite Box Art is Rendered Inside the Slipspace Engine" is utter bs; even if that image is rendered in the engine, the actual game looks nothing like it.

343 are hacks (managed by a woman, btw), and there is now not the slightest doubt that they are driving the franchise into the ground. Everything they've made has been a huge disappointment, and now they are delivering the final and most terrible blow: a new console launch Halo that would have embarrassed even as a launch title of the PREVIOUS console...

I will still play this, and probably enjoy it quite bit.

P.S. It's on the Xbox Pass so I'll have it on day 1. I strongly recommend the Pass to any high-volume gamer, it's worth way more than the asking price.

P.P.S. The XboneX can handle this game just fine. There is absolutely no need for a new console to handle this game, as long as the developer knows what they are doing. Of course, you will need a new console to get the most out of this, if you're not on PC, because 343 is a B tier developer at best, so they don't know what they are doing.

Halo Infinite delayed to 2021
https://www.gematsu.com/2020/08/halo-in ... ed-to-2021

Statement from 343 Industries studio head Chris Lee:

Chris Lee wrote:Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision.

The decision to shift our release is the result of multiple factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts affecting us all this year. I want to acknowledge the hard work from our team at 343 Industries, who have remained committed to making a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. However, it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday.

We know this will be disappointing to many of you and we all share in that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years has been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this holiday. The extra time will let us finish the critical work necessary to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever at the quality we know our fans expect.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
