JRPGs were the death of real RPGs in mainstream video games. Baldur's Gate 3 is people finally realizing they were kept in the dark this entire time and it's not even that good of a game.

The game has potential but even if you like it and its main differences from NG or DMC1 don't bother you, there's a lot that's indefensible and dragging it down. Fix or replace some of the problem bosses, fix or replace the problem enemies, make the game not almost entirely take place in drab, interchangeable gray corridors (seriously, people give flak to DMC5 for this when it's not even as bad about it yet fucking icycalm is the only one who calls out 3 for the same thing) and there you go, the version of the game that should have existed in the first place. I'm surprised that it doesn't come up more often in discussions of game that could use remakes when it's so beloved and yet has unanimously agreed-upon aspects that are dragging it down so strongly.

>/v/ will make any excuse not to discuss anything
No, YOU make excuses. You come to /v/ because you're (rightly) afraid anywhere smarter or less ephemeral would tear you to pieces and leave lasting evidence of your intellectual failure and humiliation.
You're just projecting a spew of categorisations and rules about the most boring parts of video games to make inane comments about them. "Is it better for games to let you jump all the time? Much to consider... *sigh*... /v/ won't even HAVE such a cerebral conversation".
What is the point of thinking about these concepts and categorisations? Am I going to become better at appreciating video games? Should I have this in mind to make them? What is the point of any of this? This is an imitation of idiots doing their best imitation of what they think criticism looks like. Joseph Anderson is a dumb and boring person. And you are somehow a worse Joseph Anderson.
The only person who actually made a coherent and complete system for the classification and ranking of video games as far as I know is Icycalm. And that just turned into a case of the tail wagging the dog as he adopted increasingly absurd tastes and positions because they aligned with the development of his ideas. Which while interesting, were very myopic, and obviously flawed because of how unfun the games they led him to were. To the point he abandoned video games.
Still, that's a far more respectable endeavour than writing two paragraphs about "traversal" *maybe* being better if it's harder then fucking off from that subject thinking you're a genius until you watch Joseph Anderson say it again and write another meaningless thread saying something equally inane.
If you want to escape this hell you'll have to write about what these games mean to *you*. But of course they mean nothing interesting because you're a tasteless autistic, which is why you pretend everything is mechanical and can be solved.

You aren't interested in discussion. You wouldn't be on /v/ if that were true. You're interested in asking for discussion and being rebuffed, so that you can tell yourself you're too smart for people.
People who, of course, you have shopped around for. You look for the dumbest crowd possible so that you can call yourself misunderstood and feel reinforced in that. You are a shameless pig.
And as for your "conquering" line. This is just an awkward stumbling towards the beginnings of Icycalm's work that he FINISHED a long time ago. Completely systematised and DONE. What have you got to your name? Fifty awkward and verbose false starts? Is there a single principle or idea which you will pin down as COMPLETE? A single idea which we can attribute to you which you won't completely contradict next time you're here? Icycalm left us a corpus.

This is like capeshit fans calling superheroes by first names. "Clarke", "Bruce".
You can ask these people questions. If not directly, you can form a polemic so powerful that they're forced to respond. Doing so would require you to leave the ephemeral security of /v/, which you will never do. You will never form a thought so powerful that these people you admire will be compelled to respond.
And Zelda obviously gets a pass on not being the most dynamic GAME ever because it's beautiful. Something completely lost on the autistic. My memories of the Zelda games are all things that I've seen and heard and felt. The uncanny, bizarre, and utterly unique experiences contained within them. Which are at times buttressed quite well by "game" elements, and often standing quite independent of most of them. The GAME in Zelda is a platform for everything else we love. The GAME in GOW is a platform for ugly tv-derivative pointless ugly trash which has never moved anybody and never will. If the difference is lost on you your thoughts on any kind of art are worthless. And most games are art. Go play minesweeper.
