So I have 32gb of ram but it’s running at 2400mhz. How important is it to have 3200mhz and up?
logicalChimp wrote:From what others have said, it can make a difference. However, 32gb of 'slow' ram is far better than 16gb of 'fast' ram.

busajohn62 wrote:I was looking to go to 3200mhz would I have that issue at that speed?
Valkyrient wrote:It depends on your RAM. If 3200 is the absolute max you can go, then yes you might run into issues. If it's rated to go faster then it'll probably be ok. My RAM is rated for 3600MHz but if I try to run it at 3600 Star Citizen (and only Star Citizen) crashes regularly. If I run it at 3000 everything is reliable.

busajohn62 wrote:So you run your ram at a higher speed than it’s rated for?
EastLimp1693 wrote:Yes.
EastLimp1693 wrote:Star citizen is pretty good stress test, unless your system 100% stable on max load you’ll have issues.
MutualRaid wrote:Single digit percentage performance increase typically. If your memory has an XMP profile that has a higher frequency without much higher CAS latency then try that out, if not don't worry about it.
TheBlackDred wrote:I don't know where other people are getting their information, but your RAM speed is super important, and not just for SC. I don't know the exact trade off for SC going with slow 32GB vs fast 16GB, but I can tell you that fast is almost always better. I set aside a large percentage of my PC budget because I didn't want to compromise on RAM, I wanted fast and a lot of it so I went with 64GB of 4000mhz. Star Citizen uses quite a lot of it, so you do you, but if I was given the choice right now, I would shop around and get the fastest set I could find, even if I had to sacrifice some capacity to do it.
