Hi all,

I am a new member of this forum and of course love the videos and articles posted on this forum. Anyway I have decided to go to South Korea and teach English as I can save the most money there. Are there any members in this forum who have visited video game arcades in South Korea as I would like some recommendations doesn't matter what area in South Korea just want a great variety of games etc. Also how much won does a game cost to play.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I spent ten days in Seoul a couple of years ago but didn't really look for any arcades, though I am sure they have them.

westcabaretdrive used to live in Korea, I think, so your best bet would be to PM him as he is not a regular poster.

Hey how's the parkour in France, met David Belle yet? Probably the wrong place to bring this up but when you wrote the arcade culture it was as if you knew me so well as I am of the same mindset of you. I live in a city which used to have a booming arcade culture during the early 90s hell we used to have 5 arcades here all with the latest games I guess you could call it the arcade boom period. Fast forward to 2007 we have only two, one within a bowling alley Bowlarama, the other within a cinema, the most latest games we have is ghost squad, Tekken 4, Battle Gear 2 so you can why my town sucks in terms of video game entertainment. Also there is no competition within my town you have to travel to one of our largest cities Wellington, Auckland a 4-5 hour drive or fly to the south island Christchurch to get the latest in arcade goodness and actual challenges.

Our Marvel vs Capcom 2 has only the starting characters as the cinema cant be bothered unlocking the 50+ characters. So no decent games in my town means everyone is stuck home playing their xbox360 or PS3's online so there goes any chances of any challenges in games like Street Fighter Alpha 2 or Marvel Vs Capcom 2 as the arcades are deserted due to crap games.

The reason for going to Seoul, South Korea is to save up and come back to my country to start arcade business to change my city back to the golden 90s when there where great games and challenges plus add the Asian ingredient which Auckland and Christchurch have as all machines are the Asian type plastic and sit down type.

What are the arcades like in France in your region any Asians there to watch or challenge? Are there machines wooden cabinets or plastic cabinets?

Bandai Namco to open virtual reality arcades in Japan and overseas

With an eye on bringing lifelike quality to the world of anime and popular video games, Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. said Tuesday it will launch a flagship arcade featuring virtual reality gaming in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, next month.

The two-story flagship, to be called VR Zone Shinjuku, is scheduled to open July 14. It will boast 3,500 sq. meters of floor space and will feature more than 15 VR attractions in addition to a food court.
