Landed at a Hurston UGF, ready for some shootin' & lootin'

With the introduction of the Ranger Spec, I figured I would give my thoughts on the acquisition of the Artimex and Artimex Hurston Dynamics Executive Security armor sets.

Image

The Hurston Artimex is not too difficult to get reliably. What you do is go to any Hurston UGF uninvited and start blasting. The elite guard wearing it should show up eventually. You probably want to disable the Comm Array beforehand if you don't want a CrimeStat for your murdering spree. Just be aware that turning off the Hurston Comm Array increases the chances of PvP around UGFs, and I speak from experience.

As for the base Artimex, it is one of those armor sets that can only be found piecemeal in loot crates. Putting together even a single set could take a very long time. If you see it listed on the black market, it's likely that the seller mislabeled the Hurston Artimex as simply "Artimex".

A lawful and reliable way to get the Hurston Artimex armor seems to be the "Retrieve Consignment" contracts. One of the Nine Tails heavies on site seems to always be wearing most of the Hurston Artimex armor pieces, with the missing piece being found on a corpse somewhere in the UGF. I'm assuming this is only the case on Hurston. Nine Tails heavies should be present on other planets as well, but likely wearing something else.

Also, since it came up recently, the heavy ADP Hurston armor, or any security forces armor, can be found on friendlies' corpses in "Defend Site" type contracts. Let security forces and Nine Tails shoot it out until you hear no more shots for better chances of security forces involuntarily donating their gear to our cause.

Enemies wearing Nine Tails Artimex are fairly common in any type of mission involving Nine Tails, like "Defend Site", "Destroy Drugs", "Remove Illegal Occupants", etc. Typically in a UGF or at a wreck site. These missions are named slightly differently depending on the planet. Then there's also the Orison platforms missions. Only the Nine Tails Artimex core and arms exist, these "Artimex" enemies are wearing a Nine Tails Morningstar helmet and Inquisitor legs.

Palatino Armor Looting Guide

Unread postby icycalm » 19 Oct 2025 15:26

We need the black ("Necropolis") version of this for the new Master Chief. The faster we get a set (and remember, there's also a backpack!), the faster we can use it (and I can move the current MC to the Pirate MC). You don't want to know how much they're asking for it on UEX (but I will tell you anyway in the dark market thread).

Surprisingly enough - for me the most exciting part of new patch is not a Snek fight, or new ships... For me it is a new loot hunt for Palatino armor.

Spent last few day of PTU looting it and searching for carefully hidden boxes. Plus I love distribution centers locations and I am glad they got some use.

Where to loot?

Distribution centers. Hostile ones like Dupree, and Greycat production complex B.

What to look for:

This precious box

These boxes have A LOT of new spawn points. Carefully placed and well hidden. Boxes can be found inside and outside of the locations.

Now where exactly the boxes are - I created the map, it is not 100% complete but gives you a pretty good indication where to look for.

Also it was intended for me and my friends so nothing too fancy:

Now about points I placed:

Red dot is a confirmed box spawn point.

Orange dot is a suspected spawn point (more on that later).

Outlined points mean the box is under something, while normal ones mean it is in the open.

Generally only 15-30% of these points are populated. Never more, and less means somebody looted it 10 mins before you.

There are internal spawn points too. But since there is no good map of the insides (F2 one is such a shitshow) I did not make a map of the internal spawns... Here are some tips though:

On ground level, boxes do not spawn in underlying tunnels, mostly on the upper passages and nonfunctional big inclinator in main room.

On top level, boxes spawn in exec lounges, and tunnels right where exits no the rooms are. There should be more spots so keep looking.

Now about our public enemy number 1. And no, it is not other players who may kill us and steal the loot. It is much worse... many many fellow loot goblins do not realize how bad it is.

Let me introduce you to this little unremarkable box:

Image
KILL IT WITH FIRE

Looks harmless don't you think? But there is a catch... you see, all other shapes of boxes have the same crappy loot they had since DC launch, but these ones have some new stuff—it made me suspicious so I had to investigate... Here are my findings:

    1. It spawns exactly at the same spots orange boxes do.

    2. It fills the spot, so orange can't spawn here—that's why I marked their spawn points on the map.

    3. It adds to total box limit so if you have greys everywhere, oranges won't spawn.

    4. It never despawns if not being opened.

So I name it the Placeholder Box.

Many people who loot simply ignore them, they open only orange ones, so fewer and fewer oranges spawn. I've seen DCs with ONLY placeholder boxes in place, then people complain they can't find oranges.

So how to deal with these boxes:

OPEN THEM! You don't have to take anything - just open the box whenever you see it. It will make it despawn in 10-15 mins and free the spot.

Now happy looting! And please post you thoughts/additions in comments.

Much more feedback in the comments.

Updated maps with easier to see colors (not for me, I can see them fine, just people in the thread asking for it): https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... nt/nk7bds3

P.S. Looting or aspects of it may or may not be bugged at this time. Make sure you know what's up before you spend a lot of time on this.
