At CitizenCon Direct (2:04:30), they finally showed us what the taser looks like in the FPS crafting section. I'm really looking forward to the first non-lethal weapon, as it will certainly enable the gameplay loop for catching bounties. This is certainly also a prerequisite for prison cells on ships to have a function. I just hope that there will also be handcuffs or something similar.

Bounty Hunting V2 must be one of the surprises for 2026 they hinted towards at CitCon. Otherwise why bother teasing the taser?

Obviously I'll be giving the taser to our Bounty Hunter but I wonder whether it should also be given to other specialists.

This basically means that the Bountu Hunter won't get a pistol in the long-term. Because I don't see a point in packing a pistol in a backpack. Might as well just pack more ammo for your rifles.

I suppose a taser could also be used in hostage situations, to avoid killing innocents by mistake. Maybe also infiltration and piracy to avoid CrimeStats? Or to capture monsters with the Monster Hunter?

We'll see. It depends on how many relevant mechanics CIG adds.

I wonder if they'll also add a stun rifle.
