This thread is specifically for screenshots of the clan. For cool screens by other people, check the regular screenshot thread: https://culture.vg/forum/topic?t=7733

I will start with the best screen/scene we've had so far:

Image

This screen depicts my favorite moment in a videogame ever. It was all streamed by ysignal (who's also taking the pic), and you can watch it all in this 6-player 5-hour stream:

Star Citizen with ysignal, icycalm, recoil, Some guy, Jameson and SriK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBbYbdC83U0

Jump to 3:12:28 to get right to the best part. If you jump a bit before that, as we're approaching the planet, you will hear my stunned reaction to the planet tech. The scene doesn't last long, for reasons you can probably guess. Absolutely worth a watch if you are into videogames. Full essay and more screens coming soon, but for this post I will restrict myself to this one screenshot and one scene because it deserves the focus.

The stream is only 720p60 (as all our SC streams will probably be until someone sets up a second computer for streaming) because even ysignal's 2080 Ti can't handle anything higher, and he's only playing at 1080p because the game is a hog (and also unoptimized since it's an alpha). So you're missing out on a LOT of detail by watching the stream, and same for the screenshot. Still looks stunninger than more or less anything else I've ever seen, and certainly all MMOs ever.

Most of our computers can't handle streaming this at all, so for now only a couple of people will be streaming. ysignal is one, probably Chev another (they have the same graphics card). Maybe SriK if he keeps playing and wants to try streaming (his desktop has a 3070). SriK also has a 3060 laptop so he could hook that up and stream from there with no hit to his desktop.

We'll see how it goes. Maybe some day we'll all be able to stream. That's gonna take a very long time though.

Jumptown 2.0 assault

Unread postby icycalm » 04 Sep 2022 21:28

Image

7 of us, plus ysignal who took the pic, in front of our 3 Avenger Titans assembling on a moon outpost before a combined arms assault on Jumptown (in the cargo holds of the three Titans we had 3 buggies).

In the end, only Jameson and Some guy managed to get inside the lab, and died within moments (they weren't streaming either, nor did they have the time for pics, so no proof lmao). But we got there in the face of much better geared and experienced teams, so it is progress. We had never even got near there in previous attempts. In the first attempt we didn't even manage to get to the moon lmao. Still have a long way to go since I think we lost 3 ships that smashed onto the moon. Moon landings can be tricky because you tend to underestimate how fast you're coming in. We even tried a NIGHT landing/raid, and that went about as horribly as you'd expect.

Xtreme buggy shenanigans while waiting for the fleet to assemble.

Image

Managed to get 2 Greycats inside an Avenger Titan, even though some people in the global chat were saying you can't get any of them in at all. Cult efficiency.

Image

Outside the weapons store before departure, after we'd done our shopping.

Image

Enjoying the view in ArcCorp, our home planet, and city, and planet-city.

Image

Our full 8-man team on the hover shuttle to the spaceport. You can see even ysignal the photographer because he's using third-person mode.

We have 11 people in the org now, and I look forward to future pics with all of them among increasing amount of sick hardware.

The entire day can be seen here:

I think ysignal's stream starts a bit earlier, but Chev's lasts much longer, both because Chev played more and because ysignal's stream got cut off by OBS for some reason.

ysignal, ChevRage and recoil lost in a huge cave. I thought this was a space game?

Crawling never looked so good as it does in Shenmue 4.

Our biggest session yet, 9 players! (The org has 14 now.)

Image

Exiled took this picture from first-person. Our epicest team shot yet. I am wearing random bits of armor because I looted it all from moon outposts. (Not all 9 players are in the shot, because some are still trying to rendezvous with us at that point.)

Image

Same scene but third-person so you can see Exiled too. In third-person there are no username markers so in a sense it looks more immersive, but I like the markers for the purposes of identifying who's who.

The ship is a heavy fighter Adjudicator bought with real cashmoney. Cost him about $200 used (i.e. purchased from another player in some third-party marketplace site). It has a turret and two beds. It's the biggest ship we've owned so far, and it blew us all away.

We all piled in for Adjudicator to take us to the Siege of Orison on Crusader. Everything about the ship and how we moved around it and flew to our destination with it was out of James Cameron movie.

Interior of the ship.

Image

Bunch of people sitting on the ground because there're only four sitting positions.

Image

Exiled watching me and Kojiero take a nap in the bunks.

Image

Quantum-jumping towards Crusader.

Image

Coming in for the landing at Crusader Spaceport. Adjudicator was a perfect transport pilot (if that is the name of the pilot who transports troops). So much more relaxed for me than flying a shipload of people and having to worry about their safety.

Adjudicator landing perfectly in the center of the hangar.

CULT disembarking.

Lots of stuff happened at the Siege of Orison, I wouldn't know where to begin to list all of them. I beat a friendly security guard to death with my bare fists while wearing nothing but a hospital gown because he killed ysignal because we were trespassing since we hadn't got permission to join the mission. Bunch of people ended up in prison. Adjudicator was running around like a recon ranger looting corpses. Chev had to leave for irl reasons so I told him to just charge ahead on his own and just take down as many enemies as he could. The main thing is that for about ten minutes we rolled forward as a squad with me in the back directing everything and Chev bodyguarding me, and Some guy, Kojiero and Adjudicator leading the way. It worked great and we steamrolled an entire platform, but partly because other players had recently passed and killed most enemies. We still moved well, I felt, and I am looking forward to more of this when the servers work better, because they performed terribly tonight. Never seen such bad performance, so I am sure they'll be fixing them soon. What a night.

Since we have a new Jumptown mission this Friday, I thought I'd post the pics we took from last Jumptown back in October.

Image

Gearing up in Cubby Blast before the mission. The spec on the left is the commanders' (ysignal, recoil and Chev), and on the right the soldiers' (though I will be changing that later tonight).

Image

Five of us in Cubby Blast. Three soldiers on the left, me in the middle, and one of the commanders on the right.

Image

Getting our ships out at the Riker Memorial Spaceport.

Image

ysignal (or is it Chev?) in his Super Hornet as wing commander to three of our Arrows.

Image

Me in my Scorpius on the top-left, I think Adjudicator or ysignal in the center piloting our new Hercules A2 military heavy gunship/bomber, and ysignal (or Chev?) with his Super Hornet at the top-right plus three of our Arrows, on our way to Jumptown. But first a stop at a moon to take out and load our ground vehicles.

Image

Landing at an outpost on a moon.

Image

And here's the gang inside our A2 after we've loaded some of the vehicles. The massive thing right behind us is the Centurion short-range anti-air Atlas platform, then on the right we have a Cyclone rover, and on the left the Mule cargo hauler. ysignal's taking the pic so you can't see him in it. This, to my mind, is the most epic screenshot I have ever been a part of in any videogame. I'll talk more about this in the VGCULTURE essay.

Image

Same view pretty much but now we've really stuffed the hold with two STV rovers, and on the left you can see the little fenced-off area that houses half of the A2's massive bombs.

Image

Me and Archonus aboard my Scorpius. He's my gunner.

Image

QTing to the final destination.

Image

Unloading the vehicles. It was rainy, windy, snowy, foggy, you name it. AND night. Hell of an atmosphere for the mission.

The TL;DR is that some players had to drop out because it was taking too long, then all our remaining fighters were shot down above the facility, which in the end just left ysignal alive who finally jumps on one of the STVs and makes a mad dash for the facility.

Me and Chev are dead, shot down from a dogfight right above Jumptown
Only ysignal manages to make it to Jumptown, alone with a Cyclone
I won't spoil the rest
It's like a damn movie
Today's entire 6.5-hour session has been incredible
Best JT attempt yet, and we did so many cool new things and learned so much

Here is also Chev's stream, cut in two parts due to hardware issues I think.

Assault on Jumptown 2.0 with ChevRage and The Cult - Part II

The two streams are pretty identical until the end. Watch ysignal's if you want to see the cinematic finale, and watch Chev's if you want to see how we got shot down above the facility. That's where the two streams diverge, in the last half hour or so.
