Released today.

Wins are painfully slow because the fight just feels like it drags on forever, losses are slow because you just watch a combo go on for 20-30 seconds, neutral is boringly slow because of the existence of a block button + crossups and left-right mixups do not exist in this game.
Look, I'm not going to pretend to be a genius at game balance or anything, because I'm not and 99.9% of the people reviewing this game also arent... but there is a CLEAR difference in how fun a game feels to play, and this game feels awful. I spent most of my time in multiplayer (because single player content is non-existent, more on that later) and had exactly 50% winrate, so I'm not just reviewing over a salty lose.
Almost everyone is slow, some characters have pressure that's so unbelievably easy to pull off that you can learn their 10+ move combos in 30 seconds, and the single player content is so lacking that I'm not sure why it was added at all. If you played Melty Blood: Type Lumina and thought that game had no single player stuff... this game ACTUALLY managed to deliver even less.
Pros:
Visually: Great. Looks awesome to see my character do cool super moves and intros/outros.
Music: Pretty good. Not something I'd listen to even when not playing like Guilty Gear music, but it's good fighting game music.
Accessibility: probably the easiest fighter to learn. All special moves can be done "Smash-style", meaning instead of quarter circle forward + button, you can do direction + button at the cost of waiting longer to regenerate Mana Points aka MP, which you use for special attacks.
Netcode: From what I played, it was actually good. Lag shouldn't be an issue for this game.
Cons:
Arcade mode: fight a few CPUs. 'Grats on winning. No "Great job" or cut to credits or whatever, it's literally just 8 random fights against CPUs LMAO
Story mode: "Man, you sure are cool. Also those people have seeds to open the door to other worlds. Wanna fight them for literally no reason even if you're both willing to cooperate? Cool!" Yes, that is legit the whole story. It can be finished in 10 minutes if you skip dialogue, 30ish if you don't.
Combo trials: Believe it or not, they messed this up too. Don't get me wrong, some of the combos are fun, but if you want to do combos the "correct" way, meaning you use motion inputs instead of just direction + button, you need to check the command list, because the game ONLY tells you the easy inputs and there's no option to just change how it displays. Not the biggest deal... but how do you mess this up?
As the TLDR said, it's barren and slow. I own probably 20+ fighters and I'm trying to refund this day 1. Take that for what you will.

This game is a 3/5 for a few reasons.
This game is very much geared towards competitive players or DFO fans. I do like having a set of 8 chapters of Story per character and how they add a glossary when highlighted names come up. The art style is good, the hits feel like they actually have a fair bit of weight to them. Music is ok at best.
Combos feel clunky. Which is really unfortunate because there are combo routes that my brain says "this should work" but it doesn't specifally because I'm 3 frames off on the animation which is the most annoying thing. Also zoning characters dominate the scene at launch. I was hoping zoners would play more like Granblue where it's more setup heavy and not like Injustice 2 where I can just turtle in a corner, spam projectile and win.
The Boss Fight was something else for that exact reason. I chose Grappler because I wanted to expand my character type horizon a bit and Grappler is just... Awful to play. I struggled with him on the boss but thought "Ah that's just AI being AI" only to find out that Grappler gets his teeth kicked in by Dragon Knight for the Injustice 2 level zoning.
Online? Well on the bright side Roll Back Netcode is nice. I played with someone in Korea and the Rollback held the match together really good.
Do I recommend this? Yea, a fair bit. Will I play this in any competitive level? I mean probably not, I'm liking Granblue much more in comparison. I don't *not* recommend it. It's serviceable and I know players will enjoy it.
I'm just struggling to have fun I guess.
3/5 sounds fair for it considering
GBVS was 4/5. I was hoping for another 4/5 here, but it seems it's not the case. Maybe they can improve it over time? I am still interested in it in either case.
Lots of positive reviews, and the overall rating is positive, but they are all brief, offering no detail, which tells me the guys who see the game positively are stupid. Here's one example:

What more could you want? This is IMHO the only fully proper online experience made by Arksys ever; good rollback netcode AND proper ranked matchmaking.
That alone make this game a far better game than GG -Strive-, DBFZ and other Arksys games.
On top of that, cute chibi lobby are back instead of the ugly Strive ones (but not forced on you if you just want to use matchmaking!), game aesthetic and music is top-notch as always, and the cast is amazing. This is one of these rare games where I litterally want to play ALL the characters.
Excellent game, best fighting game currently available IMHO
I am not saying that what he's saying is false, all I am saying is that he seems to focus on one aspect and forget about all the rest, which are even the more important ones: typical of low-IQ reviewers. There's not a single in-depth positive review on Steam, which is a massive red flag.
I might buy the game soon. I'll also be looking for more reviews; it's just day 1 after all.
