Yo Ho! It’s Pirate Week, Ta Be Sure

Where be the yearning for excitement and the lure of liberty that called ye out to that vast starry horizon. Conjure it now and gather yer crew, ‘cause Pirate Week is here. Some may call us thieves or ruffians, but we’re nothin’ but old romantics, in love with adventure... and treasure. It’s our deviant duty to keep the UEE on its toes and all we ask in return is but a few wee trinkets (and everything they’ve got in their cargo holds). Be you a solo Stanton sailor or a Pyro privateer posse, make way for a wondrous, plunderous Pirate Week.

Four very cool new skull paints, a treasure hunt that gives a hangar decoration (Reddit still working on it), a Spectrum badge for completing Pirate Swarm in Arena Commander, and a pirate-flag-painting competition. Also the $600 skull containers from last year now available for a reasonable price, and the Clash armor obtainable for your web hangar with a Warbond Starter Pack purchase.

Not a bad Pirate Week at all, though people are still complaining that the treasure hunt clues are given outside the game (social media etc.) instead of inside it as in at least one past event I am aware of. And I have to agree with them on this.

I plan to try Pirate Swarm soon, and I am keeping an eye on Reddit for the treasure hunt code. As for the gear, I'll post in the Exclusive Gear thread soon.

Treasure Hunt

The treasure code has been found: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... to_post_it

Thanks to the great work of the people in the Treasure Hunt post!

Post this code to the link below (you will need to be logged in).

The reward is 4 pirate/skull-themed containers.

Pokinator wrote:On the one hand, kinda unexciting like "woo... some boxes with a skull on them..."

On the other, it's account-bound SCU containers for after wipe, and since they're unique boxes it'll presumably be easier to target them in the sub-destinations list from shopping terminals instead of "Stor*All 8 SCU container"x10

2 bits of feedback:

1. Please provide a way to check the single code fragments so we can have a little dopamine each day instead of frustration from finding 10 possible fragments, not knowing if the correct one is among them.

2. If at all possible... give us the entire riddle all at once? These bits were so tiny and left us hanging every day... with 8 chunks the repeated wait got a bit stale towards the end...

Apart from that: again, I love the reward. Really good pick that one - like finding a literal treasure chest, hehe.

They strung out the clues over a full week across all their social media so it was very different from previous time(s). I can't say how I liked it because I didn't participate. The thread where they hunt down the solution is here for those who care to follow it: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... asure_hunt

I think this image was the starting clue.

Pretty unique to be looking for a pirate treasure across solar systems instead of in the traditional archipelago.

Maybe I'll participate next year if I have more time. I might also go back and follow the solutions of previous years, or if it was in-game I'll just watch a video of it.

P.S. Top-rated reply to the original post:

It ended up taking more like 8 days. So it certainly subverted expectations. Shows that the team put some more thought into it, which is always welcome even if it doesn't quite hit the mark. They'll dial it in eventually as they do with everything.
