But there's no reason not to use one now because the other gear types aren't here yet but when more things come online you'll have to make meaningful choices on the gear you take with trade-offs to suit your style.
So for example, gear that gives you more information such as hitmarkers will not have the other powerful elements that other gear will have (which I won't go into since it's future content we've not talked about specifically).
But you can imagine just as a really high-level concept example of a trade-off, this gear might have very high emissions meaning you are really easily scanned.
Obviously don't want it to be a crutch for combat as we want to offer gear with meaningful choice and reward those who go for gear with less contemporary FPS feedback.
But just the nature of development with the combat helmets being the furthest along and being the only ones turned on.

Just as the title says, if you know you are going into a crazy firefight. Go ahead and use Adrena or Cortico medpen. If you get an injury while the medication is still active, you won't get any of the symptoms until the medpen wears off. Good for not having to worry about medicating injuries middle of a fight.

PastOutlandishness19 wrote:It depends on the dosage. One hit from a medpen will last 15 minutes. If using the medgun, adjust the dosage and it will tell you on the screen how long it will last. Just remember the higher the dose the higher your BDL.

pandazerg wrote:It's always a good idea to keep a green pen strapped on you.
If you get a bad arm injury, you'll be unable to use the medgun on yourself. A green pen will temporarily relieve the symptoms of limb injuries enough for you to be able to medgun yourself.

Kaillera wrote:Depends, if you heavily rely on medpens for whatever reasons, then it's going to spike BDL.

In any case, stabbing yourself with pens isn't exactly the worst thing in the world, though like you said, doing it a bunch adds up.
100goto10 wrote:For science, I just logged in and drugged myself, and then detoxed myself. I don't have the full detox on video, but it was about 6 minutes (19 detox pens, and a big dump of resurgea from the paramed) to get to a non-wobbly state.

I get where you're coming from. But I wouldn't be too worried unless we had drugs that gave us temporary invulnerability or something.

I've been using them more lately for those situations where some weird spawning occurs and you get a small herd of NPC baddies coming at ya or the 4 NPCs in an elevator just standing there. Knocks em down like bowling pins and you can pick 'em off pretty easy.
Sure could use a sticky grenade at times though. Curious to see how the breach charge implementation goes.

I would love to have a deployable shield-projector gadget added to the game.

ValKalAstra wrote:It's a complicated issue. CIG has attracted a group of people whose main enjoyment comes from ruining yours. Any trick is just as well to them. To those, Reddit and Spectrum are part of the playing field and as such, they will have no qualms in increasing misery in and out of the game. If they can tick someone off with a comment? They'll go for it. It's part of the fun for them.
It is also a new player problem predominantly. Murderhobos lack the skill for PVP. Oh they like to talk big, they like to taunt and mock, thump their chest and provoke you into breaking Terms of Service, but when push comes to shove, they crumble faster than paper in the rain.
They need overwhelming force or the element of surprise to get anywhere. That's why you often find them at orbital markers, to shoot down ships as they arrive or why you will see them camp out at outposts.
That means an experienced player can avoid them almost entirely and will only have to worry about the very rare PVP org or squad doing interceptions.
So here are some survival tricks:
- Check Global Chat. Two surefire tells: First, there will be arguments going on once they start camping. Remember, murderhobos thrive on hurt and if they can cause more by poking the victim, they will. Second, if you spot any political trigger topic, chances are very high that murderhobos are present. If they have to bait with Trump, minorities and other topics, they will. If you see any of that, exit to menu, switch regions, get a new server.
- Check state of environment. Does the station look like a monkey pissed and shit all over? Are there medbeds janked into hallways, shipwrecks where they shouldn't be? Kopions in the lobby or dead NPCs? Yup. Exit to menu, switch regions, get a new server.
- Are you on the US servers? Assume there will be murderhobos. Be extra vigilant but chances are above warnings will very quickly pop up anyway.
- Delete orbital markers (OM) from your mind. They do not exist. The map is lying. Use locations on the surface to fly around a planet or switch to moons and...
- Learn to cut your quantum. You can at any point while in quantum turn it off. Make use of this. Never go anywhere in a straight line. Cut your quantum - go for a tangential target, cut again and then approach your real target.
TL;DR: Check server vibe. Does it look and feel like a shithole? Dip. The more you quantum in straight lines and make use of predictable exits such as OM, the more likely you are to find murderhobos.
This isn't a surefire guarantee to avoid all PVP but just by vibe-checking and avoiding predictable exit points, you basically skip the majority of all murderhobo encounters.

I'd expect filling half of a Wolf at a station to take about 1.5k to 2k maximum, if that.
Seems like it's a pretty fair price to get an NPC to truck the fuel to you.
